Commission Goals for 2009-2010
-
Form a legislative task force among the Commissioners to monitor legislation and interact with council members. This task force would participate in coalition meetings within the women and children’s community including the Women’s Agenda initiative. Further, create a pipeline for women to engage in the political process.
-
Create a communication vehicle and strategy that can centerpiece the Commission’s activities, provide a forum for communication among our constituents and the Commission office. Utilize the web/internet vehicle to promote our programs and publicize our town hall meetings and events.
-
Develop a long-term data base that would encompass the names of constituents, affiliations, women’s and children’s organizations and volunteers who want to assist the Commission with various planned activities throughout the year.
-
Identify published information on statistics about economic issues, safety, and health and develop a strategy that can elicit state, local and private funding for particular projects.
-
Highlight and implement highly successful apprenticeship and training programs for women in the District of Columbia. Utilize building trade summits and conferences to gather best practices and advocate for these initiatives within the business and legal communities. |
